August 29th, 2023 – Cuba Rico, the District Attorney of San Andreas, has announced his immediate resignation from the position. In a statement released to the public, Mr. Rico expressed gratitude for the support he has received during his tenure.
“People of San Andreas: It has been an honor serving as your district attorney. I have given my resignation to the Chief Justice and it is effective immediately. Thank you for all the support during my time in the DOJ. I will be offering legal advice services to anyone who needs it. But I will not be practicing law for the time being.”
Cuba Rico, Former District Attorney
When asked about his decision to step down from the Department of Justice, Mr. Rico pointed to time constraints, stating that he couldn’t sustain the position’s demands.
Turning his focus to the future, Mr. Rico has outlined an expansive set of plans. He intends to develop his flight school, particularly the skydiving section. On the legal front, he plans to pivot into an advisory role, offering consultations for a fee. Longer-term, he envisions establishing his own law firm. With respect to serving another term on the city council, Rico indicated it’s unlikely but stressed he’s taking things “one step at a time.”
Following his resignation, the Department of Justice released an official statement.
“The DOJ would like to recognize the effort and diligence the now former District Attorney, Cuba Rico, applied to his role. Mr. Rico represented the State of San Andreas as a Criminal prosecutor but also managed the personnel in his department. He mentored and provided them with ample opportunities for personal growth. He was instrumental in his role as a sounding board for policy changes and improvements in the manner in which the LEO community performs reporting and evidence management.”
Judge V. Hocho, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of San Andreas, on behalf of the Department of Justice.
Chief Justice Hocho communicated his gratitude for having had Mr. Rico practice law in his courtroom. He expressed a wish to see him return and achieve further growth in his career, noting that “Mr. Rico has been a credit to himself and the entire Department of Justice.”
In the wake of Mr. Rico’s resignation, questions loom about the future of the District Attorney’s office. When queried about potential successors, the Department of Justice stated that they are currently considering their options but declined to comment further at this time.
